Silk Farm: Silk yarn is extracted from the silk cocoon and then ready to be dyed. The yarn will be degummed, by using natural components.  When ready, the yarn is boiled and then the dyed yarns are finished and dried. Finally, the silk is spun on a yarn on wooden reels and is finally ready for the weaving process. The weavers groups in Cambodia produces Samatoa's fabric and scarves. The specific weaving technique used in this isolated village creates a unique silk quality that you willl appreciate when you visit the silk farm in Siem Reap,Cambodia. Silk is a by-product of silkworms gorging on the leaves of mulberry trees. They spin cocoons which are then harvested and boiled. The threads for weaving are drawn from the resulting floss. But while sericulture is similar world-wide, there are major regional differences. In Cambodia, "yellow" silkworms evolved to match the tropical climate, while in the more temperate regions of China and Japan, higher-producing "white" silkworms are the insects of choice.!
